Hello lovely ladies (and a few gentlemen ;)
I hope this edition finds you well and safe and managing to weather the storm (if you’ll pardon the pun!).
As I write this, we’re experiencing the entrails of Storm Ian here in the UK and it’s thrown us straight into winter. Never mind autumn - it’s a case of winter’s here - boom! Rain, wind and cold enough for me to seek out my boots!
So, this is incredibly apt for the subject I’d planned for this edition of the newsletter.
It is one of looking after ourselves as we get further into this dark part of the year. The idea was sparked from something I remembered from a very wise yoga teacher some years ago during a yin yoga class I was attending. Probably around this time of year.
She explained that the whole of the natural world, apart from humans, starts to recede as autumn approaches and turns into winter. Trees loose their leaves, wildlife starts to hibernate and what we humans do? That’s right, gear up for our busiest time of the year - Christmas! So whilst the wiser part of civilisation treats themselves the best they can to ensure they emerge the other side rested and rejuvenated, our mad activities ensure we enter a new year knackered and possibly worse!
So, via this newsletter, I’m kindly suggesting that you take some very well earned, and probably very much needed, “me”-time in the lead up to Christmas. And that me-time can take many forms. It’s a case of remembering what it is that really lights you up and carving out the time to do that.
Can you remember what it is you like doing? That might be a long, bracing walk in the woods kicking the leaves; a candle-lit bath full of bubbles with the door firmly locked or even just snuggling under a blanket on the sofa with a cherished boxset.
Whatever it is doesn’t matter. It’s the act of, and the time spent, doing something purely for you that will allow both your brain and body to rest and re-set in amongst all the madness that is Christmas, as much as we love it!
OTHER 45 NOT OUT STUFF…
One of the pleasures of my year this year has been seeing how the 45 Not Out community has grown. Between this newsletter and my other platforms it’s standing at about 250 fab, sassy women who are still very much in this game of life. And I love having everybody on board!
So, I’d like to introduce you to one of the other platforms I have where fab women like you can “meet” , inspire and support each other.
I have a closed Facebook Group that is growing quite nicely, thank you, but there’s always room for more. Much like this newsletter, the content in the group is aimed at women at this stage in life and I hope it provides them with what they need to know as well as standing on the sidelines cheering for them in both good and bad situations. In short, the virtual friendship group you wish you had in real life. Well, at least I wish I had ;)
As I said previously, there is always room for more fab women and if you think you’d like to join the group, take a look and ask to be admitted here
The fact that the group is a closed group means that the 45 Not Out group is a safe space and what goes on in the group STAYS in the group ;)!
So, that’s another edition from me. I hope you found something that resonates with you. May you stay safe, well and strong in the meantime, and I’ll see you in a fortnight’s time.
Take care
Una x
