Dear lovely readers
I hope you are well? And enjoying this pocket of fine weather we’re experiencing! And no before time, eh? Apparently, it’s forecast for a good few days too, so make the most of it!
I also want to welcome the flux of new subscribers I’ve had in recent weeks. Dear newbies - you are very welcome and I’m thrilled that you’re here. I hope the newsletter covers some issues that resonate with you?
Talking of which, in this issue, I want to talk about Imposter Syndrome. This is something of a pet subject for me. I’ve covered the issue before in a newsletter - quite some time ago - and since then I’ve learnt a bit more and more research has been done. So, for the next couple of months I’m going to talking all about that on all my social media channels, which includes my Linked In account, Instagram and Facebook page .
Not everybody will be all over social media or may be wanting a bit of a break from it (I get you!). So, I thought I’d share the videos that I’ve put together to give some hacks that you can use to help you turn down the volume on the vicious voices that tell you you aren’t good enough or don’t deserve to be where you are.
I’ve produced a series of 5 videos, each covering a different hack that I’ve used and benefitted from. And, if you’ll bear with me, over the next 5 editions I’ll include that video each issue.
However, before I include the first video here, can I just add a caveat? Watching this video won’t cure you immediately of any self doubt you have. In fact. nothing will, not even the best therapist/psychologist in the world. The truth is that the brain mechanisms that make us feel inferior are both embedded in our brain (it’s connected with the prehistoric brain - it hasn’t learnt to adapt to modern life) and the same with the values that we learnt when we were really small and not able to filter out stuff that doesn’t serve us. Even those who had an idyllic upbringing, and I don’t know many of those, do you?
So, enough of the bad news. Although Imposter Syndrome isn’t something you can’t rid yourself of, you CAN turn down the volume. But, be aware, like anything worthwhile, it’s not immediate, it takes practice and commitment.
So, if you’re ready, here’s my video. I hope it helps - I’d love to know what you think.
So that’s a wrap from me for another issue.
I hope you like the video and feel compelled to stay with me for the next four issues.
Have a good rest of the week, and enjoy the fine sunny weather that we’ve been promised :)
Take care and stay safe
Una x
