LETTING SERENDIPITY DO ITS THING...
Dear Wonderful Subscribers
I’m now back home from a fortnight in South West France fully rejuvenated and raring to go with the second half of the year.
Have you had your holiday too, or do you have that to look forward to? If you do, I’m quite jealous. I think it’ll be a long rest of the year for me :( But if you have your holidays coming up, I hope you have the best time, when it arrives.
I’ve decided to write about serendipity in this issue. Because, in the few days since I came back to the UK, I’ve met a couple of people by pure chance, who in our short conversations, have added a bit of something to my life.
And the serendipity bit is that I was totally not looking for influential people one bit. I’d just returned from my holiday, for goodness sake! The first occasion was when I had a trial day at a lovely, new, local co-working space. It’s a huge space and there was just 3 of us in this fab new building. Heading towards the in-house kitchen to make myself a cuppa, I rushed past a bloke who said a friendly “Hi”. As you do in co-working spaces, we got chatting and it turned out he is actually doing what I’d like to do with 45 Not Out.
He runs a very successful group offering guidance, both spiritual and business, with a very loyal and large community. And a membership scheme where members can benefit from his wisdom and experience.
I told him about 45 Not Out and my wishes for it become a force for good, alongside it becoming a business for me. Which is my dream right now.
So, I’ve made sure I follow him online and will take in any wisdom that is relevant for me.
The following day, I was at the gym and rushed into the changing room, only to start up a quick conversation with a lady sat going through all her messages and scowling at them.
We had a quick chat and we talked about the winter and how we both hate the coming winter and how it makes us feel. She very kindly told me of a hack she discovered last year, that helped see her through the winter. She told me that in order to embrace the darkness, she takes time to be out of doors under the vast dark sky and just “is”.
To me, that makes perfect sense, and once the drudgery of winter sets in, I will give it a go. She advised that the time doesn’t have to be long - just 10 minutes will do the job. So, as I said to the lady, I’ll bank this and give it a go when the dark days hit.
So, returning to my usual routine after my holiday, I never expected to bump into people who would be so helpful in my day to day life. I wasn’t really concentrating on that - I was thinking more about what I needed to get done this week.
Hence me mentioning serendipity in the title. Apologies if I’m verging in the spiritual side of things (again!), but I’m sure we’ve all had instances where we wonder how on earth that happened and pleased to be the recipient of it.
I wish you many serendipitous moments.
Take care & see you next issue
