Hi There, dear readers.
I hope this newsletter finds you well and happy? Well, August is almost out and when we get to September, I start to prepare myself for Autumn & Winter. A throwback from school days I expect - the new school year starting in September and it was always head down from there until the end of the year.
So, at this point in the year I’m looking at things I can do to get myself through the Winter. Have to say, never my most favourite time of year, and it’s gotten worse as I’ve got older.
One thing that I really enjoy is to meet up with people - either old friends or new people - don’t mind either. It’s the human connection I enjoy. So I’ll be looking for ways over the coming season to do that.
However, I’ve made a bit of a start and I’m sharing it with my 45 Not Out network. I’ve teamed up with Kate Blakemore, Cheshire based founder of Motherwell Cheshire, Counsellor and business woman to offer a woman focused event on the 27th September at 8.00pm to be held at the Bottle Bank bar in the centre of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire (CW4 7AL). It’s an informal networking event (and social rather than work-based) where sassy women who feel marginalised and invisible can come together to meet each other and form new connections.
We’ve also got one of the sassy, fab women to be a speaker at the event. Dame Pat Bacon will be speaking about her fabulous career and how now she is a total advocate for supporting and inspiring women. I promise you will be uplifted by what Pat has to say.
Kate and I are hoping that our inaugural event will be one to remember and the first of many.
If you’d like to read more about the event, you can book tickets here - we’d love to see you there. The more fab, sassy women we have there, the more fab an event it will be.
So, that’s my remedy for getting through the Winter. What’s yours? Or do you succumb and just spend the dark days huddled under the duvet? Some people swear by using bright lights in the mornings (said to increase serotonin), by exercising their way through the season (again, a promoter of serotonin) or by flying off to somewhere hot and sunny (don’t need to explain that one :)
Or do you find something else helps to smooth your way? I’d love to hear what it is that soothes your soul. You can find me on social media or drop me an email - unacottrell20@gmail. Who knows, if I get enough responses, I might publish some of them (with your permission, of course) to help us all through the difficult coming months.
So, that’s a wrap from me until next time.
Take care
Una x
